Since 2015, Kathy has made the treacherous journey across the Yorkshire border each day just to make sure that Stockcheck’s financial operations run smoothly – and she does make a mean cup of coffee.
What’s your favourite part of working for Stockcheck? In truth, all of it – if I had to choose one above all, then I would say the location. The surroundings here are so beautiful and peaceful. It’s also a nice change to work in Yorkshire after spending all my working life up till now in Lancashire.
As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? An artist – the fact that I can’t draw or paint really put paid to that idea! Somewhere in my loft is a hideous oil painting that I did for my O level at school. One day, when I am famous, it will be worth millions!
What was your first job? Whilst at school, I had a Saturday job at a local hair salon. My first proper job was a trainee accountant after leaving school.
And… what was your worst job? Not wanting to offend anyone I’ve ever worked with, I would have to say none of them! With maybe the exception of the Saturday job at the hair salon… Whilst it was fun, it wasn’t really for me – you had to be nice to everyone!!
What do you like to do outside of work? I like to spend time with my family and friends, go out for meals, films, reading, painting (badly) and relaxing.
What’s your tipple of choice? Veuve Clicquot, Merlot, Malbec, Sauvignon Blanc… the list goes on! As you can tell I am not really that fussy, as long as it’s wine (just not rosé!)
Which celebrity would you most like to have a beer with (dead or alive)? Margaret Rutherford – she played the best Miss Marple ever. She also reminds me of my Nanna with whom I watched my first Margaret Rutherford film, Murder Most Foul, one afternoon whilst off school with tonsillitis.
